Grief is like a four-letter word-we don't speak about it in polite company.
It's time to open the conversation. Having the ability to be true to our feelings, thoughts and emotions foster improved communication with those who are important to us. We can also learn how to better support those we care about who have experienced their own losses.
Janice Goldmintz has been a facilitator for Bereaved Families of Ontario, guiding bereaved parents to find their own grief paths. She lost her daughter, Bryna, when she was 11 years old, in 1992. In her work with older adults, she has encouraged them to talk about how grief has affected their lives in the past and how it shows up in the present.
In these pages, you will discover:
The stories of parents who have lost children, and how they navigated their emotion-filled journey of grief. How we see grief and grieving in our society. Ways to empathetically support those we care about who are grieving
Whether you are grieving, someone you love is grieving, or are a health professional guiding those who are grieving, this book will bring more understanding of grief. We will all face it at some time, and so it's vitally important to talk about, cry about, laugh about and be allowed to go through grief in our own ways.
